rock cut , structural temples significant part of pandyan architecture. vimana, mandapa , shikhara of features of pandyan temples. groups of small temples seen @ tiruchirapalli district of tamil nadu. shiva temples have nandi in front of maha mandapa. in later stages of pandyas rule, finely sculptured idols, portals of temples or gopurams on vimanas developed. gopurams rectangular entrance , portals of temples. portions above entrance pyramidal in shape. gradually gopurams given more importance shikharas.
