other aviation pioneers include amy johnson, amelia earhart, sir charles kingsford smith , bert hinkler. original qantas empire airways ltd hangar, registered heritage site, part of original darwin civil aerodrome in parap , museum , still bears scars bombing of darwin during world war ii.
