nordic european airlines began life in 1991 nordic east airways operating 1 douglas dc-9-21 aircraft on charters mediterranean region. in 1992 airline received 2 md-80s. because needed aircraft longer range md-80s, airline acquired boeing 737-300 aircraft , dc-9s , md-80s returned leasing companies while additionally 737-400 acquired.

in 1995 nordic east acquired 2 lockheed l-1011s cathay pacific , those, , third aircraft added later, charter work expanded. business comprised sub-charter duties other carriers german ltu.

the airline changed name nordic european airlines - nea @ end of 1996, next year airline in financial difficulties , operations suspended march 1998, international business of airline in receivership.
