there 190 different degree , certificate programs available in more 120 disciplines.


honors program

the uaf honors program created in 1983 , provides additional opportunities students prepare professional school admission. students complete core curriculum courses degrees in honors program, maintain @ least 3.25 grade-point average in courses, , complete thesis project.


libraries

elmer e. rasmuson library

the alaska film archives, housed in alaska , polar regions section of rasmuson library, hold largest collection of film-related material alaska
biosciences library (permanently closed of june 2014)

research units

uaf alaska s primary research university, conducting more 90% of ua system research. research activities organized several institutes , centers:



the geophysical institute, established in 1946 act of congress, specializes in seismological, volcanologic , aeronomy research, among other fields.
the international arctic research center, researches circumpolar north , causes , effects of climate change.
the institute of northern engineering, arm of college of engineering , mines, conducts research in many different areas of engineering.
the arctic region supercomputing center, located within geophysical institute, high-performance computing unit of uaf.
the alaska agricultural , forestry experiment station conducts research focused on solving problems related agriculture , forest sciences.
the institute of arctic biology conducts research focused on high-latitude biological systems.
