todd dodge on field while coaching @ carroll high school



soon after graduation, dodge pursued coaching career @ high school level. first stop @ rockwall in 1987, coached quarterbacks , wide receivers. year, team made appearance @ 4a state championship game against west orange–stark. dodge became offensive coordinator @ mckinney high school under head coach ron poe. 1991, poe yielded dodge s persuasion , agreed try spread offense. dodge came hybrid between university of houston s run , shoot offense, university of miami s three- , five-step drops, , zone running game. mckinney reached 4a regionals in 1991.


after two-year stint assistant coach @ north texas, dodge became head coach, first @ cameron yoe high school, @ carrolton newman-smith , keller fossil ridge high schools.


in 2000, dodge became head coach @ southlake carroll, had greatest success. southlake carroll had won 3a state championships in 1988, 1992 , 1993, had since moved on 5a, largest classification in state. dodge coached first state championship team in 2002, when school won 5a (division ii) state championship 45–14 victory on smithson valley high school. year later, led them championship game lost 1 point katy high school. dodge s southlake carroll proceeded win 3 straight championships 2004 2007, tying state record set abilene high school s in 1950s. in addition, each of teams recognized mythical national champions either usa today (2004, 06) or national prep poll (2004, 05). schutt sports named dodge national coach of year in 2004 , usa today in 2005. after 2006 season, dodge left southlake carroll coach @ university of north texas. during 7 seasons @ southlake carroll, dodge s teams had 98–11 record overall.
