ancient history study of past beginning of recorded human history middle ages. in india, period includes period of middle kingdoms, and, in china, time qin dynasty included.


the bronze age forms part of three-age system. in system, follows neolithic age in areas of world. in 24th century bc, akkadian empire founded. first intermediate period of egypt (c. 22nd century bc) followed middle kingdom of egypt between 21st 17th centuries bc. sumerian renaissance developed c. 21st century bc. around 18th century bc, second intermediate period of egypt began. 1600 bc, mycenaean greece developed, beginning of shang dynasty in china emerged , there evidence of developed chinese writing system. around 1600 bc, beginning of hittite dominance of eastern mediterranean region seen. 16th 11th centuries bc new kingdom of egypt dominated nile valley. between 1550 bc , 1292 bc, amarna period developed.


the iron age last principal period in three-age system, preceded bronze age. date , context vary depending on country or geographical region. during 13th 12th centuries bc, ramesside period occurred in egypt. around c. 1200 bc, trojan war thought have taken place. c. 1180 bc, disintegration of hittite empire underway.


in 1046 bc, zhou force, led king wu of zhou, overthrows last king of shang dynasty. zhou dynasty established in china shortly thereafter. in 1000 bc, mannaeans kingdom begins in western asia. around 10th 7th centuries bc, neo-assyrian empire forms in mesopotamia. in 800 bc, rise of greek city-states begins. in 776 bc, first recorded olympic games held.
