first partition 1155-1264
in 1155, pomerania divided in pomerania-stettin , pomerania-demmin. in 1190 land of słupsk-sławno separated -stettin.
in 1231 emperor frederick ii granted immediate liege lordship on pomerania margrave of brandenburg, enforced claim treaties of kremmen (1236) , of landin (1250). pomerania had become fief of brandenburg, mediate (indirect) subfief of empire, brandenburg being immediate imperial fief.

in 1227, stolp came pomerelia, schlawe pomerania. in 1238–1316 both became part of pomerelia, ruled autonomously acting dynasty of castellans, swenzones (german: swenzonen, entering history in 1257 swenzo elder). in 1316, area became part of pomerania-wolgast, first pawn brandenburg, , definitively in 1347.
after wartislaw iii died heirless in 1264, barnim became sole duke of whole duchy. after barnim s death, duchy ruled sons barnim ii, otto , bogislaw iv. first years, bogislaw, being eldest, ruled in place of young brothers.
second partition 1295-1368
in 1295, duchy of pomerania divided peene , ina (ihna) rivers, areas north of these rivers ruled bogislaw iv became pomerania-wolgast, whereas otto received pomerania-szczecin south of these rivers.

in 1368, pomerania-wolgast divided western part (german: wolgast diesseits der swine, including name-giving residence in wolgast) , eastern part (german: wolgast jenseits der swine, in literature called pomerania-stolp after residence in stolp (słupsk)).

fourth partition 1376/1377-1478
in 1376, western part of pomerania-wolgast (german: wolgast diesseits der swine) subdivided in smaller western part named pomerania-barth after residence in barth, , eastern part included residence in wolgast. in following year, eastern part of pomerania-wolgast (german: wolgast diesseits der swine or pomerania-stolp) divided western part included stargard , eastern part included residence in stolp (słupsk).

in 1531, pomerania partitioned pomerania-stettin , pomerania-wolgast. time however, in contrast earlier partitions same names, pomerania-wolgast included western, , pomerania-stettin eastern parts of duchy.

in 1625, bogislaw xiv reunited pomerania under rule. however, in 1637, sweden hold western parts of pomerania (hither pomerania), including stettin, legalised peace of westphalia in 1648 (swedish pomerania, several times reduced in favour of brandenburgian pomerania). between 1637 , 1657 lauenburg-bütow land came poland, thereafter brandenburg. in 1648, brandenburg prevailed in peace of westphalia claim eastern parts of pomerania (farther pomerania), brandenburg electors officially holding simultaneously title of dukes of pomerania until 1806 (end of empire , enfeoffments), de facto integrating pomerania brandenburg-prussia, making 1 of provinces of prussia in 1815, including former swedish pomerania.
