martin chosen along félix trinidad in 1999, lead puerto rico s worldwide tourism campaign, both exemplifying puerto rico s youthfulness, enthusiasm , indefatigable character.
in february 2004, martin received lifetime achievement award @ lo nuestro awards in miami.
martin honored 2006 latin recording academy person of year latin recording academy on november 1, 2006. chosen accomplishments world-renowned entertainer, consummate performer , passionate humanitarian. portion of proceeds evening s tribute dinner used benefitting ricky martin s charitable efforts.
on october 16, 2007, martin received 2351st hollywood walk of fame star, shortly after receiving key city of miami beach, florida on october 11. star located beside hollywood , highland complex. los angeles mayor antonio villaraigosa , rita moreno invited unveiling ceremony.
in 2008, puerto rico declared august 31 international ricky martin day.
in 2011, martin awarded spanish citizenship honor contributions arts.
in addition numerous awards received throughout musical career, martin has been honored many accolades humanitarian efforts.
