1901 – on october 24, annie edson taylor went on falls in barrel. unharmed, exited barrel bleeding.
1903 – on july 2, ed delahanty, baseball player, swept on falls. had fallen international railway bridge, after having been kicked off night train drunk , disorderly conduct , threatening passengers. delahanty s body later recovered near maid of mist s berth; body mangled , 1 leg severed.

1911 – on july 25, bobby leach went on falls in barrel. spent following 6 months in hospital, recovering 2 broken knee caps , fractured jaw.
1920 – on july 11, charles stephens bristol went on falls in barrel. bobby leach , william red hill, sr. urged stephens test barrel on falls before attempting stunt, refused. when barrel recovered @ foot of falls, ballast had pulled stephen s body out of barrel, leaving right arm in safety harness.
1928 – on july 4, jean lussier went on falls in large ball spring steel frame , rubber covering.
1930 – on july 4, george stathakis, greek immigrant working chef in buffalo, new york, went on falls in barrel. upon impact, barrel stuck behind curtain of water , not recovered 18 hours. stathakis had air supply of 8 hours – although had survived initial fall, died of suffocation. stathakis took plunge pet turtle, said around 150 years old. turtle survived ordeal.
1951 – on august 5, william red hill, jr. (son of william red hill, sr.) went on falls in craft named thing . vessel broke apart on impact , hill killed; body found following day.
1960 – on july 9, seven-year-old american boy named roger woodward swept on falls. woodward, sister deanne , boat driver james honeycutt in 12-foot (3.7 m) aluminium fishing boat powered 7.5 horsepower (5.6 kw) motor capsized. roger, wearing lifejacket , remained buoyant, rescued maid of mist @ bottom of falls; deanne pulled river 6 feet (1.8 m) lip of falls 2 bystanders—john hayes , john quattrochi. honeycutt died in accident.
1961 – on july 15, nathan boya (also known william fitzgerald) went on falls in rubber ball nicknamed plunge-o-sphere . ball hit rocks on impact , bounced, boya uninjured.
1981 – on august 29, dunia sayegh, 28-year-old resident of toronto, dropped two-month-old son, hesham, on railing , river brink of horseshoe falls on canadian side, whereupon swept on falls. boy s body never found. sayegh arrested , charged second-degree murder. charges dismissed after sayegh claimed accidentally dropped child after suffering dizzy spell.
1984 – on july 3, karel soucek went on falls in barrel. emerged minor injuries face, caused wristwatch on impact water. soucek s descent reported 75 miles per hour (121 km/h), , took 45 minutes barrel recovered.
1985 – on august 18, steve trotter went on falls in barrel. second attempt – first, in november 1984, foiled police. trotter s third attempt (on june 18, 1995) successful, when went on falls lori martin.
1985 – on october 5, david munday went on falls in barrel. during second attempt, in 1990, barrel became lodged @ top of falls , removed crane. third attempt, in 1993, successful.
1989 – on september 28, peter de bernardi , jeffery james petkovich went on falls in reinforced barrel. stunt draw attention anti-drugs campaign.
1990 – on june 5, jessie sharp went on falls in kayak. intended continue paddling downriver after fall, , had made dinner reservations @ restaurant in lewiston, 4 miles (6.4 km) downstream. after beginning plunge disappeared falls , although kayak later found; body never recovered. sharp decided not wear life jacket in case impeded escape should trapped under falls, , refused wear helmet in order keep face recognizable cameras.
1995 – on october 1, robert overacker went on falls on jet ski raise awareness homeless. rocket-propelled parachute failed open , plunged death. overacker s body recovered next day , pronounced dead @ niagara general hospital.
2003 – on october 22, kirk jones went on falls. became first person survive drop without aid in fall, having swum approximately 100 yards (91 m) before swimming on falls. jones , friends had been drinking before incident, , had planned record event—although friends not able operate recorder. jones fined $2,300 , banned life entering canada. jones has said going on falls suicide attempt rather stunt.
2009 – on march 10, unnamed man attempted suicide on falls. in attempt, clothes ripped body , suffered shock , laceration head, survived.
2011 – on may 26, unidentified woman killed after swept on horseshoe falls. reports suggest appeared alive on approaching brink, declared dead on arrival of rescue boat.
2011 – on august 14, ayano tokumasu—a japanese exchange student—was swept on falls. niagara parks police surveillance cameras show tokumasu climbing onto railing near water s edge , sitting on pillar block. @ 8:30 p.m. stood up, lost footing, , fell on edge niagara river, approximately 20 metres (66 ft) upstream falls. body recovered on august 18.
2012 – on may 21, unidentified man in 40s became fourth person survive unprotected trip on horseshoe falls. eyewitness reports indicate deliberately jumped niagara river after climbing on railing. suffered broken ribs, collapsed lung , lacerations.
2017 – on april 19, kirk jones, same man went on falls unprotected in 2003, attempted again, time inside inflatable ball. did not survive. ball picked afterward boat, , jones s body recovered on june 2.
2017 - on october 15, unnamed 10-year-old boy fell falls 25 meter drop. survived, lifted hospital via air ambulance. paramedics said injuries non life-threatening when arrived.
