the christmas specials have been broadcast each year since 2004. first special broadcast week before christmas 2004, in 2005 broadcast on christmas eve, , 2006 have been broadcast on christmas day. every christmas special has been hosted bruce forsyth , tess daly , forsyth continued host these editions 2014 after left live shows until announced not appearing on 2015 christmas special- due ill health- died in 2017, daly , winkleman have presented special since 2016.

darren gough & lilia kopylova , jill halfpenny & darren bennett 2 couples have won christmas special twice. have both won main series.
the christmas special not held in series 1 because main series held in summer. however, has been held series 2 present day.
from series 2 - series 7, celebrities previous series perform. series 8 - series 11, celebrities did not have time show perform. series 12 - present, celebrities previous series perform.

strictly ice dancing

strictly ice dancing broadcast one-off special on 26 december 2004; carol smillie, jessica taylor, scarlett alice johnson, marcus patric, david seaman, , rowland rivron paired professional skaters. won david seaman (who late replacement paul gascoigne) , partner zoia birmingham.

in order of elimination, competitors were:

strictly ice dancing identical itv format dancing on ice, although details of dancing on ice revealed before strictly ice dancing commissioned.

strictly african dancing

a further one-off special broadcast on bbc 1 on 9 july 2005 part of bbc s africa lives season. featured 6 celebrities of african descent performing traditional african dances professional troupe. contestants tunde baiyewu, tupele dorgu, robbie earle, antonia okonma, louis emerick, , tessa sanderson. programme presented natasha kaplinsky , martin offiah, , winner robbie earle. professional dancers darren bennett , lilia kopylova, have appeared on strictly come dancing since second series, appeared on special perform traditional african samba.

2008

a strictly come dancing one-off special sport relief broadcast on 14 march 2008, craig revel horwood, arlene phillips , len goodman judging. 5 former strictly contestants related sport partnered new celebrity.

the ranking of bottom 3 couples not announced – eliminated competition in random order.

a bbc spokesperson commented: sport relief features strictly come dancing difference.

2012

strictly come dancing did underwater special sport relief 2012. contestants 2011 champion harry judd , runner-up chelsee healey. judges len goodman, craig revel horwood, bruno tonioli , mark foster. presented claudia winkleman.

after initial scores resulted in draw, len (as head judge) had deciding vote. chose chelsee , pasha therefore won contest.

2014

strictly come dancing did paralympians special sport relief 2014. contestants david clarke, hannah cockroft, nathan stephens , martine wright. judges goodman, tonioli, darcey bussell , lee pearson; however, no scores given. series presented tess daly.

the dancers performed alongside alesha dixon singing boy nothing @ start of show , ricky whittle seen backstage, supporting hollyoaks cast performed , alesha told him go rehearsals. presenters , judges did not appear in unlike previous year when judges rated terry s performance.

a strictly come dancing one-off special children in need broadcast on 19 november 2010, tess daly presenting show , craig revel horwood, len goodman, terry wogan , pudsey bear judging.

in november 2011, bbc newsreaders sian williams, sophie raworth, susanna reid , emily maitlis performed group dance katy perry s firework . susanna , robin won 3 of judges votes. angela rippon made appearance in dance, alongside women. susanna went on compete contestant in eleventh series of show in 2013.

2012

a one-off special children in need 2012 broadcast on 16 november 2012 sir bruce forsyth , tess daly hosting, , judges craig revel horwood, darcey bussell, len goodman, , bruno tonioli. fan favourites ann widdecombe , russell grant made special appearance in parody of queen s olympic opening ceremony scene daniel craig james bond, , danced angels , demons routine partners anton du beke , flavia cacace. bruno voted ann , anton, craig, darcey, , len chose russell , flavia, took home pudsey-on-a-glitter-ball trophy.

2013

a one-off special broadcast children in need 2013 on 15 november 2013. sir bruce forsyth , tess daly hosted show, , judged len goodman, darcey bussell , bruno tonioli. show featured professional ice skaters jayne torvill , christopher dean, partnered james jordan , aliona vilani. bussell voted chris , aliona, tonioli , goodman voted jayne , james, won show , took home pudsey-on-a-glitter-ball trophy.

2014

the judges were: revel horwood, bussell, goodman & tonioli. there 2 teams 1 children couple , 1 of shows professional couple, team glitter s pros natalie lowe & anton du beke , team sparkle s pros aliona vilani & tristan macmanus. team glitter took home trophy.

2015

on 13 august 2015, announced call midwife actors jenny agutter, laura main, stephen mcgann , jack ashton appear on 2015 children in need special. tess daly hosted show, along former presenter sir bruce forsyth in forsyth s final formal television appearance prior death in 2017.

2016

on 18 november 2016, british olympians canoeist joe clarke, hockey player hollie webb, taekwando athlete, lutalo muhammad , rower helen glover competed in 2016 children in need special. tess daly , claudia winkleman presented show, making first children in need not co-presented sir bruce forsyth.

2017

the bbc announced former , current blue peter presenters take part in 2017 special.

the people s strictly comic relief

on 11 september 2014, bbc announced special non-celebrity version of show air comic relief 2015. featured 6 inspirational heroes underwent 4 weeks of training before performing live in studio.

the series began airing on 25 february 2015 on 4 pre-recorded episodes, first 2 episodes introduced contestants, third episode on 5 march followed training , preparation show. fourth episode on 11 march saw couples take dance floor, winner decided via online public vote , announced live on red nose day 2015 on 13 march.

the series hosted tess daly , claudia winkleman, , judged bussell, tonioli , goodman alongside guest judge anton du beke. craig revel horwood did not take part judge due prior commitments. judges scores guidance only.

the weakest link special 2008

on 27 december 2008, special episode of weakest link broadcast on bbc 1 featuring participants of strictly come dancing. game won series 6 celebrity mark foster, beat professional dancer anton du beke in final. participants in order of elimination were:
