volkmarsen s oldest seal dates 1272. current coat of arms, shows 2 men, sitting on bench, count of everstein , abbot of corvey, town s 2 overlords @ time. seal mid 14th century shows familiar church 2 windows religious figures in each one, believed have been archbishop of cologne , once again abbot of corvey, reflecting new ruling arrangement on town. 2 figures in arms nowadays, however, saint peter (holding key) , saint paul (holding sword). became arms in 19th century.[1]
