cranganore fort, known kottappuram/kottapuram fort, built portuguese in 1523 , later in 1565 enlarged. fort named fortaleza sao tome, portuguese. dutch took possession of fort in 1663. remains of fort show original fort wall 18 feet in thickness. ruin known tipu s fort.
