in 1990s, local radio station, bbc radio foyle chose all-time dream-team of eleven players. team follows:

at start of 2007 season, supporter publication, derry city fc: city till die, designated task of revealing dream teams lifelong derry city fans, mick mcbride , davy doherty. both men decided choose players had witnessed first hand playing derry city, limiting pool players have appeared since 1950s. subsequently, likes of goal-scoring legend, jimmy kelly, remained absent. players chosen both derry s irish league , league of ireland eras. while distinguishing players on basis of ability , consistency, consideration given amount of time contributed toward club individual players. while recognised greats such alan sunderland, denis tueart , neil mcnab played derry city, played club during twilight stages of careers , did not manage accumulate more handful of appearances each. hence, players of such ilk omitted.
