in may 2015, in recognition of sociopolitical progress made in somalia , return effective governance, secretary of state john kerry announced preliminary plan reestablish embassy in mogadishu. indicated although there no set timetable premises relaunch, government had begun upgrading diplomatic representation in country. president of somalia hassan sheikh mohamud , prime minister omar abdirashid ali sharmarke presented kerry real estate deed land reserved new embassy compound. mohamud concurrently signed establishment agreement eu head of delegation in somalia michele cervone d’urso, facilitates opening of more embassies in mogadishu european union member states. eu announced had opened new eu delegation office in city.


in february 2014, somalia s minister of foreign affairs , international cooperation abdirahman duale beyle announced federal government slated reopen former institute of diplomacy in mogadishu. center historically served 1 of important national institutions diplomacy , international relations. beyle pledged reestablish institute s diplomacy department, information , broadcasting department, library.
