mogadishu s municipal government led yusuf hussein jimaale, succeeded mayor hassan mohamed hussein mungab, former military court chairman. among administration s development initiatives us$100 million urban renewal project, creation of garbage disposal , incineration plants, launch of citywide cleanup project, creation of asphalt , cement plants, rehabilitation of town hall , parliament buildings, reconstruction of former defence ministry offices, reconstruction of correctional facilities, rehabilitation , construction of health facilities, establishment of police training center , permanent base in jasiira new somali armed forces, rebuilding of somali postal service headquarters, , rehabilitation of public playgrounds in several districts. in january 2014, benadir administration launched house numbering , post code system. began distributing national identity cards in march of same year. in addition, municipal authorities started renovating important local government centers in september 2014, including capital s former fisho guverno compound. in january 2015, benadir administration opened new health & safety office supervise health , safety practices in city, , launched municipal beautification campaign ahead of various international conferences slated held there.


in march 2015, benadir administration completed secil project in conjunction eu , unhabitat. 3.5 million eur initiative lasted 3 , half years, , saw establishment in mogadishu of new sustainable waste collection system, technical training centre, water quality testing laboratories, ameliorated access clean drinking water, improved employment , livelihood opportunities in low-cost fuel production sector, strengthened skills training , regulation in construction sector, , laboratories testing of construction material quality.
