the planned season 23

when doctor put on hiatus in february 1985, several completed scripts being prepared 1986 series (which retain format of thirteen 45 minute episodes). others tales still in story-outline stage. of these scripts later abandoned make way trial of time lord, when series resumed in september 1986.


the nightmare fair

written graham williams, two-part story commissioned on 25 september 1984 arcade , planned open original 23rd season. nathan-turner hoped have matthew robinson direct adventure. williams wrote novelisation of script published target books in may 1989. later adapted john ainsworth big finish part of lost stories series in november 2009.


the ultimate evil

written wally k. daly, two-part story planned second story in original 23rd season. nathan-turner hoped have fiona cumming direct adventure. daly wrote novelization of script published target books in august 1989.


mission magnus

written philip martin, two-part story planned third story in original 23rd season. nathan-turner hoped have ron jones direct adventure. martin wrote novelization of script published target books in july 1990. later adapted martin big finish part of lost stories series in december 2009.


yellow fever , how cure it

yellow fever , how cure three-part story robert holmes have taken place in singapore , featured autons monsters, both rani , master appearing, brigadier have returned. first episode commissioned on 26 october 1984, before being put on hold. entire story subsequently commissioned on 6 february 1985, couple of weeks before news of planned hiatus broke. nathan-turner hoped have graeme harper direct adventure. after news of hiatus, holmes asked production team continue story 6 25 minute episodes, version seeing removal of master plot. holmes reportedly completed story outline before planned season 23 cancelled. basic premise had master , rani operating under guise of travelling street theatre, story open peri seeing statue of liberty on scanner screen, , think in america, find in massive cultural garden many miniature landmarks on display.

commissioned two-part story christopher h. bidmead on 21 november 1984. after news of hiatus, bidmead asked production team continue story 4 25 minute episodes. later adapted hollows of time bidmead big finish part of lost stories series in june 2010.


the children of january

written michael feeney callan, story commissioned on 5 february 1985. after news of hiatus, callan asked production team continue story 4 25 minute episodes. had been planned adaptation of story appear part of big finish s lost stories range, fell through due author s other commitments , replaced macros.
