the north texas mean green hired dodge on december 12, 2006 new head football coach of football team, replacing former coach darrell dickey, fired on november 8 after going 2–9 in 2005 , 3–9 in 2006.


2007

during first season head coach, unt went 2-10. dodge s spread offense averaged 408.4 total yards , 24.8 points per game while giving 39 sacks. dodge brought of original college coaching staff high school ranks, , team struggled compete against non-conference , sun belt foes. unt s defensive squad, directed ron mendoza, gave fbs-worst 45.1 points per game. after season ended, dodge dismissed mendoza.


2008

for 2008 season, dodge hired gary deloach team s new defensive coordinator. deloach had terrific run unt s secondary coach 1998 2000 , fan favorite stellar work defensive coordinator 2000 2002. dramatically improved coaching, mean green defense lacked experienced, developed talent. defense allowed 47.6 points per game in 2008, worst number @ fbs level year. offense regressed, averaging 20.0 points per game , allowing 25 sacks. team s special teams units among worst in country in categories. year, quarterback riley dodge, todd dodge s son, joined team. team finished dismal 1-11 record, win on fbs transitional western kentucky.


2009

dodge focused heavily on upgrading team s defensive talent several recruits junior college ranks in 2009. defense improved, giving average of 36.4 ppg, including 28.8 ppg in last 4 games when new talent jelled. although offensive line held opposing teams 12 sacks season, offense had 21 fumbles , 17 interceptions during season. kicking game suffered several blocked field goals, , team finished 2009 season 2–10 record.


2010

unt opted retain todd dodge 2010 season. understood dodge had produce winning season keep job.


on october 20, 2010, unt athletics director rick villarreal fired dodge. dodge had compiled 6–37 record.


during tenure, unt consistently rated in bottom ten espn.


offensive coordinator mike canales took on interim head coach.


going 2013 season, athlon sports rated todd dodge seventh worst college football tenure in bcs era.

dodge named quarterbacks coach @ university of pittsburgh on january 18, 2011. held position 1 season before returning coach high school football in texas.
