rickitt famous role on popular itv soap opera coronation street, took on role of nick tilsley in 1997. girlfriend sent pictures various showbusiness agents, 1 of whom nigel martin-smith. @ first martin-smith had idea of putting him in boy band forming, when found out coronation street re-casting part of nick, rickitt auditioned part , got job. part had been played actor warren jackson until 1996 when character moved canada.

in march 2006, rickitt took part in channel 4 reality show games. took part replacement, after scheduled contestant, electronic musician goldie, had pull out, following accident during training water ski jump, in fractured femur. rickitt himself sustained 2 black eyes after over-rotating off diving board. finished last in contest.

in 2010, rickitt made appearance @ london s g-a-y club , announced working on new album. first single it, tonight , failed chart , album never released.

in 2014, became part of supergroup 5th story, taking part in second series of big reunion along kenzie blazin squad, dane bowers level, kavana , gareth gates.

in october 2005, rickitt approved prospective parliamentary candidate conservative party. part of attempt reinvent himself, in february 2006 appeared on political debate show question time, non-partisan guest. in may 2006, 1 of 100 would-be mps chosen conservative party a-list. following month, appeared on sunday andrew marr. attended national , local conservative party functions in hope of being selected candidate, , developed political blog on website. however, newspaper article alleged not member of conservative party , had decided support them because of dislike of prime minister tony blair. rickitt refuted these claims , confirmed member, while newspaper retracted claims following week. along david cameron, provoked anger of sir nicholas winterton when revealed rickitt being tipped stand safe conservative seat of macclesfield, outraged winterton had represented thirty years. winterton responded had no intention of standing down seat: wish adam luck, there no vacancies here.
