parker s 1992 live album life on planet groove considered seminal live album, marking first collaboration dutch saxophonist candy dulfer.


in 1993, parker made guest appearances on hip hop group de la soul s album buhloone mindstate. in late 1990s, parker began contributing semi-regularly recordings prince , accompanying band, new power generation, on tour. played on jane s addiction track cat s name maceo 1997 compilation album kettle whistle. in 1998, parker performed guest on on dave matthews band concert, became 1 of live albums, live in chicago 12.19.98.


in 2007, parker performed part of prince s band prince s 21 nights @ o2 arena. parker played part of prince s band 21-night stay @ la s forum in 2011.


parker s album roots & grooves wdr big band tribute ray charles, whom parker cites 1 of important influences. album won jammie best jazz album in 2009. parker followed collaboration wdr big band in 2012 album soul classics.


in october 2011, parker inducted in north carolina music hall of fame.


in july 2012, parker recipient of lifetime achievement award victoires du jazz in paris. continues touring, headlining many jazz festivals in europe , doing many 290 concerts year.


in may 2016, parker received north carolina heritage award home state.
