the imps

written william emms. planned fourth serial of series 4, imps four-part story concerned spaceship overrun imp-like aliens , aggressive alien vegetation. script commissioned on 17 october 1966, , had rewritten accommodate new companion jamie. however, due sickness on part of emms, took long further rewrites needed explain loss of ben , polly , on 4 january 1967 story dropped. emms reused elements of story in mission venus, choose own adventure-style story featuring sixth doctor.

the mutant

written barry letts, story outline, submitted around november 1966 story editor gerry davis, involve race of beings undergoing cycle of mutations, akin of butterfly, moving 1 form via chrysalis stage. letts later, producer, have writers bob baker & dave martin use basis of script mutants season 9.

the new machines

written roger dixon, story submitted in 1967. race of people wiped out powerful robots created. robots having become advanced able create new race of people. robots fear these new humans dominate them, , when doctor arrives on planet, take proof of fears.

the return of neanderthal

written roger dixon, storyline tardis being dragged beneath sands of terunda encounter people descended earth s neanderthal man wish return earth of 2016. these story elements similar story arc of silurians, intelligent reptiles lived on earth millions of years ago, dwell underground , wish 1 day return surface.

operation werewolf

written douglas camfield & robert kitts, storyline six-part story submitted production office on 18 september 1967, although camfield & fellow bbc worker kitts had developed outline in 1965 due camfield’s dismay @ sub-standard script, , have been directed camfield himself. story saw doctor arrive in normandy prior d-day landings. feature plan stop nazis using form of matter teleportation. draft script episode 1 written. went through several rewrites until 1967 when abandoned due producer innes lloyd moving on , writers both having other commitments. interesting note story given individual episode titles though practice had stopped savages in 1966. episode titles listed as: secret army, chateau of death, lair of werewolf, friend or foe, village of swastika, , crossfire

the queen of time

written brian hayles. later adapted catherine harvey big finish s lost stories range in october 2013.

written robert holmes, story pitched on 22 october 1968. story set in 22nd century , dealt outbreak of mutants esp powers. plot reused holmes in 1977 non-doctor radio serial aliens in mind.

the dreamspinner

written paul wheeler, four-part story commissioned scene breakdown on 23 february 1968.

the eye in space

written victor pemberton. concerned omniscient octopoid eye in space drew things toward it. doctor producer peter bryant asked pemberton develop new idea shortly after completing fury deep in late 1967. when bryant left doctor in 1969, pemberton decided not pursue story, , not formally commissioned.

the impersonators

written malcolm hulke, six-part story commissioned on 5 july 1968. serial cancelled on 30 december 1968 , production budget allocated war games, allowing story expanded 10 episodes.

the laird of mccrimmon

written mervyn haisman & henry lincoln, storyline considered around mid-1968. story set in scotland in jamie s ancestral home, castle mccrimmon, doctor s old foe great intelligence plans use jamie s body. @ end of story jamie remain behind new laird. late april 1968, clear frazer hines leaving series sometime during season six. 1 candidate departure story haisman , lincoln s third yeti serial, working on around start of june. on summer, however, writers became embroiled in dispute on copyright bbc regarding quarks, robot monsters had appeared in previous doctor commission, dominators. ensuing acrimony resulted in abandonment of laird of mccrimmon during august 1968.

the story involved strange force compelling jamie pilot tardis scotland in 1746 doctor, jamie , zoe find isolated ship forcefield. arrive @ foreboding castle mccrimmon, jamie s ancestral home near misty loch. there met duncan, factor ailing laird, sir james mccrimmon. jamie shows zoe around , notices strange cattle stand - yeti. yeti isolate castle , villagers fall under influence of great intelligence. 1 villager, fiona, immune , jamie falls in love her. intelligence aims gain control of jamie s body , settle in castle laird of mccrimmon when sir james dies. doctor has determine intelligence working through, laird , village sorceress being prime candidates. transpires duncan protecting fiona s mother, morag - woman second sight. intelligence defeated and, after sir james dies no heirs, jamie last of clan , therefore obvious choice new laird. accepting rightful inheritance , responsibility, jamie bids reluctant farewell doctor , zoe remain fiona new laird.

the rosemariners

written donald tosh. beginning life rosacrutians, story came after tosh contacted production staff in 1968 see if interested in him pitching script. initial discussion saw story begin story featuring jamie , victoria, time tosh delivered first materials story patrick troughton had decided depart series. @ point turned down production team tosh had completed script first episode , notes subsequent 3 episodes. tosh completed full storyline dwm in 1994. set on earth space station deals conflict between staff of station , rosemariners, group plan hold staff hostage in return earth supplying them sophisticated weapons. later adapted tosh big finish s lost stories range in september 2012.
