in 1990, following cancellation of live action series, bbc approached canadian animation house nelvana propose animated continuation of show. cartoon series feature unspecified doctor, incorporating elements of various bbc series doctors. not oriented younger audience live action series; rather, intended continuation of cancelled series in animated form in order save costs, design elements promote merchandise sales.


according nelvana s ted bastien: went through lot of development on it, scripting , storyboarding , 4 scripts had been written. happened fast .

the series have been nelvana s biggest show date, however, according bastien, pulled out under after british animation studio told bbc nelvana intended lower price. project did not proceed further , no pilot produced.
