after presenting initial concept @ 2006 mondial de l automobile, renault debuted production twingo ii @ 2007 geneva motor show french market trim levels named authentique, expression, initiale, dynamique , gt. using floorpan of renault clio ii, twingo ii offered improved crash protection , available in lhd & rhd configurations. production began in france , subsequently moved revoz plant in novo mesto, slovenia.


in january 2008, renault debuted twingo renaultsport 133, new 133 hp (100 kw) 1,598 cc engine, @ 2008 geneva motor show. in august 2013, ordering , production of 133 model ended.


in july 2011, renault debuted facelifted twingo ii @ frankfurt motor show, featuring design language subsequently used on entire range , offering revised fascias redesigned front , rear light clusters.


on series 14, episode 4 of top gear, presenter jeremy clarkson road tested twingo 133 on belfast streets , barrel rolled upside down through sewage tunnel. after numerous accidents, raced catch departing ferry, instead landing in ocean.


on 16 march 2011, renault twingo won best city car award in parkers new car awards.
