in november 2003 abdul-malik spoke in defense of arrested of abdul rahman al-amoudi, founder of american muslim council, indicted on charges of engaging in illegal financial transactions libya. al-amoudi s supporters maintained respected member of community. however, in 2004 al-amoudi pleaded guilty financial , conspiracy charges, , sentenced 23 year years in jail.
