1957 version

in 1957 alternative de-nazified replacement versions of german cross authorized wear federal republic of germany. replaced swastika representation of iron cross gold division, , war merit cross swords silver division. wearing nazi-era decorations banned in germany after war, display of swastika. 1957 replacement of world war ii decorations consequently enabled recipients wear german cross again in new version of insignia.
