the first serial of series written c. e. webber, , concern 4 main characters (at point named doctor, cliff, lola, , biddy) being shrunk miniature size , attacked giant animals. episode have revealed doctor had escaped own galaxy in year 5733, seeking perfect society in past, , pursued agents own time sought prevent him stopping society coming being. story rejected in june 1963 on grounds story thin on characterisation , giant monsters clichéd , expensive produce. of setup retained unearthly child, though details doctor s home removed. story s premise reused submission robert gould, miniscules, planned fourth serial, story dropped in january 1964.
the masters of luxor
the masters of luxor, titled robots, six-part story submitted anthony coburn series 1, never produced, in doctor faces self-aware robot trying gain soul. rejected production team in mid-september 1963 in favour of terry nation s first dalek serial. titan books published unused scripts in august 1992. edited john mcelroy, fifth in series of doctor script books, , first appear after break in publication following daleks (december 1989), during rights stories negotiated bbc enterprises. text of coburn s script amended fit in accepted conventions - example, consistent use of name susan , rather suzanne , sue used coburn. major differences in style between these scripts , transmitted series include religious subtext, doctor presented believer. later adapted nigel robinson big finish s lost stories in august 2012.
britain 408 ad
written malcolm hulke. story involved departure of romans britain around start of fifth century in midst of clashes against celts , saxons, culminating time travellers fleeing indigenous savages safety of tardis. britain 408 ad first submitted on september 2, 1963. story editor david whitaker asked hulke revise original storyline felt plot—with many opposing factions—was complicated, , serial s conclusion echoed of 100,000 bc closely. hoped amended version of britain 408 ad might occupy sixth slot of season 1 (serial f), directed christopher barry, on september 23 decided production block did not need historical story , hulke s serial abandoned. spot in schedule occupied aztecs, while hulke began work on hidden planet instead (see below). following whitaker s departure, hulke resubmitted britain 408 ad. rejected on april 2, 1965, whitaker s successor, dennis spooner, because romans had featured in own romans.

the hidden planet malcolm hulke commissioned in december 1963 , @ 1 point seventh serial of series 1. story have concerned planet in orbit opposite earth s, parallel in ways opposite society ours; example, women dominant sex , clovers have 4 leaves. original script sent rewrites, , due pay dispute rewrites not made until after susan had left series; necessitated further rewriting. third submission rejected ian , barbara due leave, , script dropped. story subject of april fool s day prank in 1983, when doctor magazine issue 76 claimed 1 episode had in fact been filmed , rediscovered, , integrated twentieth anniversary special co-starring fifth doctor entitled phoenix rises.

written terry nation. commissioned in september 1963, terry nation had intended second seven-part serial set during british raj in india (probably have been eighth serial), story abandoned daleks became success, , demand further science fiction adventures grew.
farewell great macedon
farewell great macedon (also known alexander great in script s stages) six-part story pitched season 1 , written moris farhi. in story, doctor , companions framed murder part of conspiracy kill alexander great , must pass number of trials, including walking on hot coals, gain trust of bodyguard ptolemy. script published nothing @ end of lane in october 2009. later adapted nigel robinson big finish s lost stories range in november 2010.

alan wakeman 1 of several writers contacted david whitaker in mid-1963. story commissioned on 31 july 1963. involved planet ruled sentient rocks , trees, ability control humans inaudible sound. four-part episodic storyline breakdown of story featured in third volume of magazine nothing @ end of lane. in breakdown following episode titles quoted: airfish , eats , living planet , in time . note in script, susan referred suzanne, , barbara referred miss canning.. concept of living plants had been used in 1 episode of season 1 serial keys of marinus.
