the first documented reference town of “waltershove” can found in certificate july 1, 1263 written in latin. certificate part of registry of deeds waldsassen monastery , preserved in main city archives of munich. document shows count friedrich von leuchtenberg (bei weiden/opf.), agreement of brother gebhardt, transferred ownership of castle in waldershof occupied monastery in waldsassen. castle built in 1100 , served starting point settlement. builder remains unknown. in 1463, abbot nikolaus iv of waldsassen granted village of waldershof market rights. castle , market continued belong monastery of waldsassen until secularization in 1802.

since completion of municipality reform, community of waldershof extends koesseine southern edge of steinwald.

in 2014 city council approved demolishment of old porcelain factory followed year later. old manufacturing facility dominated skyline of waldershof more century. meanwhile bicycle manufacture cube extended headquarters in town of waldershof, decided build logistic center. located near former porcelain facility.
