in 2002, harding auditioned reality television show popstars: rivals in 2002. programme, second british series of international popstars franchise, see creation of 2 rival groups – boy band , girl group each consisting of 5 members, compete against each other 2002 christmas number 1 spot on uk singles chart. several thousand applicants attended auditions across uk in hope of being selected. ten girls , ten boys chosen finalists judges pete waterman, louis walsh , geri halliwell. these finalists took stage participating in weekly saturday night live performances (alternating weekly between girls , boys). each week contestant polling fewest phone votes eliminated, until final line-ups of groups emerged. harding joined nadine coyle, cheryl tweedy, nicola roberts, , kimberley walsh comprise new girl group girls aloud, formed through show public vote on 30 november 2002.

2013–15: threads extended play , later acting career

in mid-2012, harding announced release of debut solo album. harding first revealed starting on solo album in march 2010, naming lady gaga biggest influence. despite this, album never materialised. in june 2012, harding restated plans release solo album in 2013. in september 2012, said had been writing , experimenting different sounds in studio. on 19 august, reported harding s debut album released in fourth quarter of 2013.

in november 2013, harding spoke daily mail, hinting @ possible release of debut solo album sometime in 2014. hinted, m doing sorts of stuff @ moment [...] lot of music, music, music. . in july 2015 first solo release, threads , announced; released on 7 august.

on 9 september 2014, harding appeared on bbc radio 1 s innuendo bingo.

it announced in may 2015 harding had agreed make guest appearance on soap opera coronation street joni, wife of returning character robert preston (now played tristan gemmill). character made few appearances in july , august 2015 marriage robert disintegrated when began affair ex-wife tracy barlow. however, harding s appearance panned both critics , fans, acting described wooden , producers @ corrie decided not invite back.

2016–present: jump, ghost: musical, celebrity big brother , future

on 16 january 2016, harding announced contestant on third series of jump began broadcasting on channel 4 31 january 2016. withdrew series on 26 february 2016 (week 5) after tearing ligament in knee during training session.

in autumn 2016 harding appeared alongside andy moss in uk tour of ghost musical. replaced mid tour carolyn maitland after pulling out due subsequent pain injury after jump.

on 1 august 2017, harding began competing in twentieth series of celebrity big brother , crowned winner on 25 august 2017 beating amelia lily in final vote. stint in house put in public eye , in october 2017, reported harding working on new album.
