after besieging athens without success passed asia , attacked of provinces of lysimachus varying success. famine , pestilence destroyed greater part of army, , solicited seleucus support , assistance. however, before reached syria hostilities broke out, , after had gained advantages on son-in-law, demetrius totally forsaken troops on field of battle , surrendered seleucus. son antigonus offered possessions, , own person, in order procure father s liberty, proved unavailing, , demetrius died after confinement of 3 years (283 bc). remains given antigonus , honoured splendid funeral @ corinth. descendants remained in possession of macedonian throne till time of perseus, when macedon conquered romans in 168 bc.
