the western fairgrounds open 12 months year. in addition fair itself, fairgrounds home western fair raceway, olg casino slot machines, agricultural complex, , several large buildings rented out events. used home former western fair museum , archives , former imax theater, both of closed in 2005. imax theatre taken on london musical theatre productions in 2007.

london s primary standardbred horse racing facility western fair raceway. slot machine facility on site opened public on 28 september 1999, authorised ontario lottery , gaming corporation. of april 2008, facility contained 750 slot machines , has seen 9.4 million people, supported $15 million staff budget.

the western fair museum , archives began efforts of inge sanmyia, working on ph.d. in history @ wilfrid laurier university in waterloo, ontario in 1997. three-month summer research project became foundations western fair museum , archives. since 1997 has designed historical displays fair , written history: celebration of excellence: history of western fair. during existence, wfa museum , archives accumulated material western fair, members of public , historians, , catalogued western fair archives list of photographs. through acquisition of these materials, museum put on regular short , long-term displays distinct displays during each fall fair. example:

imax theatre

an imax film theatre situated @ western fair site 9 years, closing on 30 september 2005, due low attendance (an average of 100,000 patrons per year). after imax equipment removed, theatre leased , renovated dale henderson, retired engineer , former leader of stardust orchestra, opened london city music theatre in october 2007.
