the common misses sizes have not had stable dimensions. example, dimensions of 2 size 10 dresses different companies, or same company, may have grossly different dimensions; , both larger size 10 dimensions described in standard. vanity sizing may partly responsible deviation (which began in earnest in 1980s). there no mandatory clothing size or labelling standard in u.s, though series of voluntary standards have been in place since 1930s.
